Co-Creating Neurodiversity Affirmative Cultures

Through Lived-Experience and Cutting-Edge Science

A New Paradigm for Work and Education

The Neurodiversity Co-op., is a consultancy and community bringing together lived-experience neurodivergent individuals and community partners to co-create new work and education paradigms that are Neurodiversity Affirmative.

What is Neurodiversity?

The term "Neurodiversity" refers to a relatively new, scientifically backed and lived-experience informed paradigm of understanding in human psychology. Cognitively, human beings experience, engage with, learn from, and perceive the world around them in diverse ways. At the heart of this movement is the lived experience of neurodivergent individuals with conditions such as Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Tourette's Syndrome, and others - along with their intersectionality with disabilities, trauma, mental health and wellbeing.

"To make it clear, Autism is not something that makes you 'better' than others. Nor is it a "condition/disorder” that necessarily disables you. It’s simply something that makes you different, and in a world where everyone strives to fit in, being different is a strength."

- Greta Thunberg

Neurodiversity Affirmative Training

A transition towards Neurodiversity Affirmative Cultures has become an absolute necessity in the 21st century. The latest science and research proves that our world is already neurodiverse. Working towards a Neurodiversity-Affirmative paradigm brings with it a whole range of benefits not just for neurodivergent individuals, but for entire communities.

"Being neurodiversity affirmative means that all neurodivergent people, no matter how high their support needs are, or how they communicate, have an equal voice and agency in relation to their own lives and communities. The neurodiversity movement was born out of the wider disability movement and has always (and continues to) encompass, embrace and advocate for the voices of all disabled people."

-British Psychological Society, 2024

The Coop

Our Cooperative community is made up of a wide range of community partner businesses, workplaces, schools, service providers, coaches, entrepreneurs, creatives, and other organisations. Together we collaborate with a shared goal to co-create remote and hybrid neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed communities, where every individual not only belongs, but thrives to their full potential, in their own unique way of being.

"Grant me the dignity of meeting me on my own terms – recognize that we are all equally alien to each other and that my ways of being are not merely damaged versions of yours."

- John Sinclair
