Our Ethos

Leading by Example

"One way to understand Neurodiversity is to think of it in terms of computer operating systems. Just because a PC is not running Windows, it doesn't mean that it is broken."

Steven Silberman

The Neurodiversity Co-op strives to be radically innovative, flexible, and ahead of the curve in co-creating Neurodiversity-Affirmative cultures. We believe that to inspire others to become truly neurodiversity-affirmative, we must set the highest standard in creating an organization that operates in a leading-edge way, particularly when it comes to the well-being of our community. We achieve this through:

Lived-Experience

We aim to be a community made up of neurodivergent individuals, families, and allies with lived experience. We also have a strong understanding of mental health, well-being, and trauma-informed practices.

“I See You” Culture

If we don’t all feel valued, safe, purposeful, and at peace in our community, we cannot claim to be Neurodiversity-Affirmative.

Fully Remote and Asynchronous

All of our core communications and decisions are conducted fully remotely. Our team can work from wherever they like, on their own schedules. We work asynchronously — with no set working hours and minimal meetings.

Community First

We partner with active Neurodiversity-Affirmative communities, schools, workplaces and service providers. We believe in the power of collaboration co-creation towards shared goals.

Radically Human

We work towards the kind of community where you can be open about having an anxiety or panic attack. We support each other in every way, openly sharing and working through challenges related to work and neurodivergence.

Leading-Edge

The information and resources in our training and consultancy on neurodiversity is constantly evolving, as we pledge to remain on the leading edge of research and lived experience. Our work culture reflects this, as we aim to stay at the forefront of digital technology, especially when it helps us be more accommodating and neurodiversity-affirmative.
