We are a called a Co-op., because that is the word that most affectively describes what we do as an organisation. We are truly a Cooperative, bringing together pieces of a collective community puzzle, and uniting them with a shared vision to create Neurodiversity Affirmative communities and cultures.
The Neurodiversity Co-op. is based on the belief that traditional workplace and education systems—where invisible systemic barriers often persist against neurodivergent individuals—can be detrimental not only for neurodivergent individuals, but for entire communities. These barriers can not only cause psychological harm and trauma to neurodivergent individuals, but also obstruct their ability to contribute their unique gifts and talents to their communities.
The Cooperatives are designed to be unique community models where all schools and service providers continue to play a central role in the lives and wellbeing of neurodivergent students and adults. Through our consulting, training and community engagement work, our team connects schools and service providers with a wide range of community partners— including a wide range of businesses, NGOs, venues, entrepreneurs, creatives — who are all connected to the neurodiversity movement in one way or another.
We ensures all of our partners are always at the forefront of the latest science, research, and lived-experience understanding of neurodiversity affirmation, mental health and wellbeing through regular training, resources and updates. Through this collective process, our partners are also able to later offer employment, internships, and other opportunities for our lived-experience neurodivergent community of students and adults.
We also connect with a range of specialist and lived-experience neurodivergent coaches who are able to offer online support tailored to the specific neurodivergent type of our clients, workplaces or schools. Simultaneously we collaborate with our network of service providers, therapists, and specialized educational settings and inclusive schools, to help them provide a broader range of opportunities and experiences for their students.
